International Youth Academy (IYA) 2025: Indonesian Youth Explore Educational and Cultural Diplomacy in ASEAN

Kuala Lumpur, July 10, 2025 – Twenty selected young activists from across the Indonesian archipelago made inspiring contributions in the International Youth Academy (IYA) 2025 program, held from July 7–10, 2025. Themed “Young Activists Explore Education, Social Affairs, and Culture in Singapore and Malaysia,” this activity served as a strategic platform for Indonesia’s youth to learn more about the challenges and opportunities for regional cooperation in education and culture.

Through a series of intensive and collaborative activities, participants had the opportunity to attend international scientific conferences, industrial and cultural visits, and direct diplomatic dialogues with government officials. One of the main visits took place at the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Kuala Lumpur, where the Secretary of Information, Social Affairs, and Culture of the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur welcomed participants.

“Activities like this are crucial for broadening the horizons and enhancing young people’s real-life experiences in education, social issues, and culture globally. We are ready to collaborate again in the future,” said the Indonesian Embassy representative in his remarks.

Furthermore, the visit to the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) opened new horizons for the participants regarding higher education opportunities abroad, including scholarships and facilities offered to Indonesian students. This fostered enthusiasm and high motivation among the young people to pursue a broader education without geographical boundaries.

The IYA 2025 program also enriched the participants’ experiences with an industrial visit to the renowned Malaysian chocolate factory, Beryl’s, and a cultural exploration at the Malaysian Tourism Information Center. Here, participants became not only observers but also participants in cross-cultural learning.

The scientific conference also became a significant highlight, highlighting strategic themes surrounding education, social issues, and culture in the ASEAN region. These discussions brought together fresh ideas from Indonesian youth with a regional perspective, encouraging a constructive exchange of ideas.
